The Children of Lir is an ancient fable that is based on the Island of Inis Gluaire that is 3 miles offshore from Belmullet, Co. Mayo. Today’s children need not spend 300 years on the island to enjoy themselves! Instead they can visit the wonderful Gateway Leisureplex to partake in bowling, Monkey Frame and many other activities. They can learn about animals and farming at Flannery’s Open Farm or they can spend an evening in the modern public playground or MUGA (Multi Use Games Area) in Belmullet. Maybe a visit to the Community Cinema (In Aras Inis Gluaire) for a Children’s Film might be accompanied by some popcorn?
